Staging for Hire

Picture
CFC has a quantity of good quality modular staging which is available for hire, for indoor events only, and within a 50-mile radius of Kendal.

Sturdy tops come in two sizes - 1 metre x 1 metre and 2 metres x 1 metre - at a hire cost of £3.75 and £7.50 respectively, with the necessary legs included at no additional cost.

Please email Stage Manager Michael Atkinson for advice and more information.

General Information
The staging that we possess is from the Cameo range manufactured by Mainstage Ltd at Lancaster. The staging  can be viewed at https://www.mainstageltd.com/portable-staging/cameo/

We purchased the staging to make up a bank of tiered seating to be placed along the North wall of Kendal Parish Church. When in place it forms 5 tiers of seating at 190, 380, 570, 760 and 950mm above ground level. Each 2m x 1m deck will support 4 standard seats. This means that fully assembled our staging will hold approximately 132 seats.

The staging can be used to construct a normal type stage but we only have a limited number of legs in lengths greater than 380mm (see below).

The majority of the staging (approximately 25 x 2m x 1m decks) will fit in an ordinary transit type van but a Luton type van would be needed to carry all our stock. The tubular legs and other fittings will easily fit into an ordinary car boot if there was not room for them in the van.

When stacked, each deck occupies a depth of 76mm.

The staging is not weatherproof and is not suitable for use outdoors.

Each 2m x 1m deck weighs approximately 31kg and is best handled by two adults. We possess wheeled trolleys which enable the decks to be moved on a smooth, firm and level surface.

What We Have For Hire
We currently have the following items for hire, which is sufficient in total to construct the staging described above:

Deck Tops
31 x 2m x 1m
4 x 1m x 1m

Legs (4 needed for each deck top)
90 x 190mm
50 x 380mm
20 x 570mm
20 x 760mm
20 x 950mm

NB The length of each leg refers to the height of the deck when assembled. Each leg is actually 25mm less than the quoted length to allow for the 25mm thickness of the hardboard top on each deck.

Guard Rails
6 x 2-metre
12 x 1-metre

Deck Connectors (for joining deck tops at same height)
28

Deck Trolleys
4

Further Information
We would be more than willing to answer any questions you have about the hire of the staging or help with designing a suitable layout. Should any further equipment be required it can be purchased and collected from Mainstage at Lancaster. Afterwards, if you are willing to donate it to the general stock of staging, on production of a receipt you would receive a refund of the purchase price up to a maximum of your current hire charge.

Normally the hirer would agree to make all the arrangements regarding (and cover the cost of) collecting, transporting, constructing, dismantling and returning the staging but Cumbria Festival Chorus may undertake to carry out these activities (at a cost to be agreed with the hirer) in exceptional circumstances.

The hirer would be expected to undertake to arrange all necessary insurance cover for the staging itself and for all use thereof during the hire period and hereby indemnify Cumbria Festival Chorus from all such responsibility during the above hire period.

We have found GB Burrows and Sons to be very efficient and helpful when we have needed the staging transporting:

http://www.burrows-removals.co.uk/

We have a gentleman who is willing to help with the installation and removal of the staging but has no access to a vehicle that can transport the staging, and we can put you in touch with him on request.
